Its actually for soldiering wires together. I don't have a fly tying vise but I think I need to invest in one.  I already have most of the tools and components I need from my rod building stuff.

A rod builder eh? I built rods for 30 years. My eyes got bad and I started getting bad headaches trying to do some of the fine intricate weaving and decorative wraps. Finally gave it up and sold out to a good friend who is now very good at it. Takes good eyes to do a good job. Peak makes a very good, affordable vise. Looks like what you are using works very well though. Nice work!

What did you use to make the body and is it epoxy or clear cure

I used clear vinyl for the body and I put 5 min epoxy with pearl ex over it.
Here's some more.

I wouldn't call myself a rod builder but I have made a dozen or so rods for myself and friends. I prefer the look of marbling vs wrapping designs and it's way easier. I also don't have the patience lol.
