Cross lock vs tiying direct to jig / swim bait hook/ jerk and cranks. All of them I like to use the smallest cross lock you can get. It gives all more action

Walleye

I do a lot of open water pan fishing trying a variety of different small bait,
found Fly Fishing Snap Quick Change for Hook Lures will work well for me
still retaining good action

About the only time I tie direct with crankbaits is when I am using an original rapala and I want to tone down the action of the bait, or change the action from the position of the knot. Cross lock's are a little less weedless than a standard crankbait snap.
Take somebody fishing soon!

Jerks and cranks I always use a cross lock. It lets the bait move more freely. Jigs and shaky heads I always tie direct. More weedless.
I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be.

In the 70's we were always told that fish could see the cross lock, but the best bass tournament fisherman that I knew always used a small cross lock on his texas rig worm hook and caught more bass then mostof us!

Jigs I tie direct regardless of line type. Anything I am going to troll or that can twist the line on a retrieve gets a premium ball bearing snap and everything else gets a cross lock snap.
