Bucktail
« on: 09/05/18 07:08 UTC »
Heading to Ontario tomorrow for a few days of lake trout fishing.

Pulled out my bucktail box and the hair looks kinda dirty and dingy. Is there any way of cleaning the jigs and making the white bucktail look nice again? Or does a guy just pack his tying stuff and re-tie?

Have you tried washing them with dish soap or maybe a dip in some bleach but I would pack the tying stuff.
May your days be filled with sun shine and you always have a tight line. AMEN

Yep..Dawn works the best.

I dry them on low with a hair dryer to help get the hair straight if bent. A fine comb helps.

If they are really bent up, try putting them over a steam pot and the steam will work miracles! Use pliers or forceps so you don't burn your fingers and do it a little at a time until you figure out how far from the steam works best.

Works even better on feathers!
