Mad Dad Sizes

Here is a picture showing the different sizes of the Mad Dads.



From left to right:

MD3 - great jig trailer or rig it for smaller fish t-rig, etc.
MD3SC - same as the MD3 except the claws are slightly wider and have a little more action to them
MD3XL - perfect t-rig, this is my go to craw when the bite is really tough.  You can also use it as a jig trailer as is or cut it down
MD4 - Designed as a flipping bait but can also be used as a bigger trailer
MD5XC - Has the MD4 body but the MD5 claws - lots of action
MD5 - This is a big bait.  Perfect for targeting trophy fish.  Works great on a big jig, t-rig, Carolina rig, etc.

Different people asked for different sizes.  Depending on what body of water you are fishing, and how you are fishing them, they all have their place.  The picture is just to help so you don't get two that would basically serve the same purpose for how you fish. 

We probably need to add another one for Musky -> lobster size...

Hey Jason will the injector from Bass Tackle work on the Caney Creek molds? I want to get the croaker molds but only have the bass tackle injector.

I believe so.  I think most everyone has standardized on the 5/8" port.

I know Jason's molds work with the Bears injectors and IIRC Bears injectors also work with the Basstackle molds, so they should be the same. Also FWIW Jason's molds are beautifully machined and look second to none. They are vry thick and heavy. I have a handful and am planning on getting a pile more soon.

The MD3XL works GREAT on smallmouth. Last night the 3xl was the top bait with 21 smallmouth to it's credit (2 fisherman)....against 2 on a "standard" rubber worm, and 10 on a sting ray grub. The largest smallmouth was 18" (about 3lbs) and the smallest was just about 6" !! I'm not sure what he thought he was going to do with that much for dinner!

I like to Texas rig them with a lite tungsten weight on a 2/0 or 3/0 skip gap hook. I would estimate that 1/2 the fish hit it on the fall...and 1/2 as it crawled along the bottom.

Using the CC plastic those pincers float nice and high and just scream "eat me" . I like that they are spread out (open) more than some patterns. Watch a crayfish sometime in the water and how they hold their pincers up!
