BKJ Rig
« on: 08/30/15 18:26 UTC »
Cross/Hybrid between a Drop Shot and the Owner Jig Rig.

Tie Main Line (or Primary Leader) to the forward end of the Snap (Main Line not tied to Snap in the pic).

Tie Secondary Leader to the opposite end of the Snap (knot will be AHEAD of the Hook but on the same end of the Snap with the Hook).

Clip the Snap to the Hook.  Hook can be changed without having to retie.

Weedless, in touch with the Bottom or Swims, Hook swings free, Sinker releases when snagged (that's a Trokar in the pic), and an "ill-rigged" spinning Soft Plastic is stabilized at the Snap between the Main Line (or Primary Leader) and Secondary Leader Section's pull.

Thank You Sir!

Will update my pics very soon for correctness and clarity.  Was in a rush when I put this together for this thread.

Again, the Main Line/Primary Leader Section is tied on the Front of the Snap, but that is omitted in the Pic...

Here, the Secondary Leader Section is tied to the Aft-end of the Snap, Hook is free to Roam.

All though its probably not what you intended to use it for I think this would be a great rig for a river walleye technique that usually involves a jig and plastic  just dragging it on the bottom either with the current or against.  would be able to get awesome twitchy action from it and much easier to change than the drop shot while still keeping the bait close but not on the bottom, Should get less hang ups.  I'm in gonna give it an honest try soon as the water cools a bit!

I'm thinking the same thing Mike. I really like the idea that the hook and bait are not encumbered in any way and can move freely on the snap. Keeping the hook loose and the line static has to be a dynamite system. I have some super light snaps and plan to do this system for drop-shotting my pannies off docks later this fall.

My thought went to the same place as Tom, panfish.  Neat idea BKJ, now I have to go buy a few different snaps to play around with before next week.

Pondering this Rig with some Super Stingers and 6" Finesse Worms...maybe some Senkos, too.

A good bait for me the last few years has been the Ike Devil Spear or any other diamond tail grub style bait.  I think you'd have some luck with one of those.
