Fished my flat tail minnow grub under a float
« on: 09/29/15 04:36 UTC »
The original technique using a float and lure was called float & fly. I saw a Jerry McGinnis show with him and an 85 yo angler fishing a trout fly in 20' of water under a float. The leader was 10' and fish were caught. I used the same with a 1/16 oz ball head jig and my own flat tail minnow and caught a dozen crappy and a pickerel in the same area. The lure is 2"-2.5" for float fishing and the thin tail quivers when the float moves on the surface from surface ripples.

I also caught fish in the same area vertical jigging just off bottom and casting around the boat as far as I could cast.(20' and greater)

Great method for sure!! That's what the mo magic was developed for, that and spider rigging where you needed tail movement but were not able to move the rods

Any idea where I can get an injection aluminum mold made?

BTW - I just ordered a 2.5" Mo Magic mold.  How do I make a different tail color?
The bait has been PHENOMENAL for different species but at 34 cents each on-line F'GET ABOUT IT!
