Threadfin Shad
« on: 12/20/16 21:41 UTC »
I had a request from a fishing friend of mine for some "white" spinnerbaits. I just couldn't bring myself to do an all white Spinnerbait and had to throw some color in it. I wanted to imitate a Threadfin Shad as that's what we have predominately in our lakes. This is a 3/8 ounce, fifty strand skirt with a Indiana and Willowleaf blade.

I'm now getting envious!!!!! That right there is a killer shad color with a perfect profile, excellent!!!! A lot of guys don't take profile into consideration when deciding the amount of skirt strands and the blade combination but it is evident you did, that is just spot on. I use those serrated blades on shad profile baits as well, they spin faster and tighter than a regular willow blade so you get a different vibration and instead of big flashes you get a lot of small flickers of light, just outstanding APDriver, Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!

Not powder, Lamar. It's Wicked createx applied with an airbrush. Topcoat is KBS Coatings Diamond Clear MCU. I have some more work to do on my basecoats and I think Createx has a better product for that than what I am currently using. That said, base coat is 3 coats opaque white. Then two or three coats of Createx Wicked pearl white. Then two coats of wicked createx Fast back Green, greened up with 6 drops of yellow as the top accent. I know that some will think that's way too much work but I do 25 at a time and it goes pretty quick. You don't have to wait til each coat air dries. What you do is heat set each coat then apply the next.
