They say a picture is worth a thousand words. and I say no kidding. lol
Here's the new 5" Thump-It grub next to a 1-1/2" model. It'll take one super-sized crappie to chow on the new version.
Couple comments on the 5" beast mold: It likes a bit of pressure when the injector stops maybe 5 seconds, and if you're using a 4 ounce injector, fill it. I also have found that the baits pull quite a bit of plastic when the injector has been removed so be sure to top off the port. I found it necessary to clamp the sprue end of the mold low and within an inch of the edge of the mold otherwise I got a small amount of blow by and flash on the bottom bait, but that may well have been my clamps as they are getting pretty worn out. When I shot the tail color I noticed this. Using new clamps on the second color seemed to solve the issue so I'm assuming that it isn't an issue with good clamps.
The baits in the picture were done in a cold mold, as in about a 50 degree mold. The plastic used is the Essential and the colorants and glitters are all Do-It products too. These guys and a second batch just like them are going to the pike bait pail. I strung one up on a 1/16 ounce weighted 4/0 wide-gap and its a perfect fit.
Way to go Do-It Corp. This puppy hits a certain home run. This brute rounds out my Thump-It collection. Got every size.
