There is a shallow marsh not far from here that's good for panfish and Northerns on tip ups at first ice that guys have been fishing since last Thursday now. Surely there wasn't much ice last week ( at least not enough for my liking ) so I'm curious to see what the ice is like over there after the 7-9" of snow we got the other day. Unfortunately I got pegged for jury duty for the month of December and I have to show up at the courthouse today. Depending on how that pans out, it may be a while before I can get out and see what the ice is like on the lakes around here. I'm sure the bigger lakes around here are still iffy but with these temps it shouldn't take long before they are good to go.
I re-rigged my tip ups with new leaders and put new line on a couple panfish rods last night. I still have to change the line on a couple panfish and walleye rods yet then get the rest of my ice gear squared away = heaters, skimmers, tipup lights, portables and whatnot. Going to need a heater and portable for sure in these temps. The weather guesser just said we could get another 6-9" of snow starting Friday. I don't mind snow per say but wish we would have had good solid ice before it started showing up in these amounts.
