I've had the occasion to tinker a bit lately and have missed the lead pouring. When Marc showed these at the last get-together last January I got in a lather right on the spot. I guess I can quit foaming now. These are 3/4 ounce.
This is a super "big water" casting lure and holds its own on deep water jigging too. The swimming action in this bait in all four of the sizes is incredible. I was able to get my fingers on a couple of prototypes and used them on Lake Superior even though the trout were in a funk and I still managed a few. The action on these baits is way more fishable than the sonar type lure.
This mold takes lead and my bottom pour pot couldn't keep up. These were hand poured with a 3 ounce ladle, the extra lead serving to help keep the lead flow quickly. I cast half a bag of body blanks using a 1 1/2 ounce ladle too on the two smaller sizes and it too was plenty adequate, but the two larger cavities need a bunch more lead and the 3 ounce ladle fits the bill. The mold pours wonderfully clean, no flash or trimming after the sprue is snapped off.
