3M Respirator filters
« on: 01/26/17 08:52 UTC »
I was going to buy some new filters for my respirator and saw that 3m is making a new pancake type filter with organic vapor protection in it. Its MO #2297 has any one tried them to see how they work and last over the old style cartage's. They look like they could be used for everything including lead pouring.

I saw those too. I always thought those pancake type filters were more a particle type filter VS  a vapor filter but this one does say nuisance level organic vapor filter. It would be nice to have a cheaper filter option for sure.

If you will, I have used the face masks MO 8577 for some quick burns and they were good for a time or two.

Go figure.  I just ordered more of the cartridge style.  I was just reading up on these, and they are priced about half- and are supposed to last double the hours.  Cool!

Does anyone know if the bayonet fitting on these universal like the old ones are?

As far as I know, there just like the regular pancake filters and mount the same.

My filters were delivered on Friday and I shot baits for a couple hours. I was using the "if you could smell it" standard.

1. By themselves they are not very good.
2. They are  upgraded  P100 filters that should be added to a base  vapor filter.

I attached them to an expired base vapor filter on my mask and never caught a whiff of plastic smell.

So, I plan to use them with my base vapor  filter and try to get extended life out of the base organic filter.

Note: when I'm done molding, I put my respirator is a large zip top food storage bag. It seems to extend the l8fe of the filters.

I take mine off the respirator and store them in a zip lock, too.  ...and I have noticed longer life as well.

..and thanks for the follow up, Andy!

Thanks for the update Andy, I'll have to pick up some any thing I can to extend the life of the filter is great.
