Crappie/Panfish Spinnerbait Mold
« on: 12/15/20 22:42 UTC »
I'm very fond of the Crappie Spinnerbait Mold, and would like to see that style expanded to some other sizes and with eye sockets.

I use the mold to make spinnerbaits for Crappies, and other panfish, but also for ultra light Bass lures.

I've noticed that it's basically the same head as the Chub Mold, so I would like to see 3/32, 3/16, 1/4 oz and maybe 5/16 oz sizes.

With a collar that allows both tying and plastic baits for more versatility, and without getting too far away from the basic compact head style.

I've been even considering getting another Chub Mold and modifying it for making spinnerbaits, but it doesn't have the eye sockets or that 3/32 oz weight.  Plus, the 1/32 size isn't something that I would use.

I use different hooks, better quality, and various models fit that Crappie Spinner mold.

I modified the casting jig mold to make small Spinnerbaits. (1/8, 3/16, and 1/4oz). It has spots for eyes as well as a good keeper for plastics. I have a video of it on my YT channel.

Welcome! Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. I've modified many molds, but had not considered that one for spinnerbaits. My primary interest is a spinnerbait heavier than 1/8 oz, but lighter than 1/4 oz. to provide more weight options for panfish and a lighter bass lure.

I'd cut wire slots in either of these two molds... Bend the frame open just enough to fit.

I just recently purchased another Herring head to do exactly as you've said, and make spinnerbaits with it. I was in a small store not far from where I live, that I had not been in before. They have a sandwich shop & some groceries in there and also had a variety of small Crappie spinners, and bass lures, and now I think it would be a good investment to make these smaller lures.  :D
