SEE BELOW - Anyone ever use a meat injector to pour claws, tails, etc then close the mold and inject with a standard injector? If so, what kind?

I tried it but couldn't get plastic to stay in liquid state long enough to come back out of the injector.  Maybe would work if you could find one that's all aluminum and heat the needle first!

I just use an injector.  You will be surprised how much control you can have.  Shoot a little on the cool side.
Bears Baits use to make a 2 oz. injector with a smaller nozzle that several folks use but it does clog up faster than the regular sized ones.  Also,  the nozzle opening on the Jacobs injectors are smaller, or they used to be,  ( might want to check with them to confirm ).

I read this and cringe. Use equipment designed for the task. Using anything else is an accident waiting to happen and the outcome has potential to be super serious.

Today I found what I was looking for, a stainless steel 2oz meat injector at a local store. The injection needles that came with it were too long so I shortened the tip on one to try it out. Both the needle and top screw in to the cylinder. No chance of the nozzle end needle coming off when injecting like regular injectors without a locking pin. I used it 15-20 times today and it works perfectly. I never had an issue with the plastic hardening any faster than I do on my 6oz regular injector. It is very easy to use and easy to clean.  The needle opening is about half the diameter of a normal injector nozzle so open pouring details can be controlled. Like my regular 6oz injector, I keep the injector heated in the skillet, the o-ring lubricated with worm oil, and wear gloves when using it. Here is a picture:

I can't attest to the durability and life of the o-ring on the plunger but I am sure I can find a suitable replacement when it becomes necessary. Decide for yourself if it is safe to use and if it is a benefit to you. I will be buying another tomorrow so I can do three color baits.

!!!WARNING!!!! - The cheaper meat injectors with a hard or soft plastic chamber like the ones sold in most discount stores cannot hold up to 350 degree plastic and will melt or crack which could cause an injury. I've tested them and they should not be used. This concludes my public service announcement.
