crawdads
« on: 03/23/24 08:47 UTC »
Here are a couple crawfish I sprayed up yesterday. Without the hooks, they are 3-1/2" in length including the bill.

They are done using the Do-It Air Brush paints. The orange bellies are the flame red that's been toned down using some sriracha sunfish and the watermelon green back color was browned down a bit with the crimson craw color. Made for some nice colors on the plastic. To top off the green clear with bronze hi lite was sprayed lightly over it and the result is a bait with some reflective value, but of course the camera's filters have nixed what it looks like.

These will be headed down to the river in maybe four weeks to fish rip rap that holds a ton of smallies.

I would say those will do the job. Very nice paint scheme.

No idea, but I suspect the internet. A buddy got them and gave me 5 blanks to mess with. I can ask him if he can get back to the source though and let you know what I find out.

Thanks ctom! I acquired a Paasche air brush for cheap.  That looks like a good piece to start on.

Which brush? Gravity or siphon feed? I have one of each and love the Raptor, gravity feed. I have an Iwata Neo too and use it strictly for Createx's original water-based paints. The Raptor is solvent tolerant and has a broader scope of use. All Paasche air brushes are solvent tolerant for that matter.

It's a siphon feed kit. Never used, $19.00. I thought I should try it at that price. It also came with a moisture trap. I already have a small California air tools compressor that should work well with it. It's all new ground for me.

You won't need any more than about 20 psi air pressure. Keep it clean and you'll love it.

The moisture trap that came with it has a regulator too.

This is an awesome airbrush @ less than $25 shipped. I love the .8 needle so much, I don't use any other size. I don't need to thin the paint near as much. Allows me to shoot craft paint with ease. Opens paint/color choices big time.
That's cool.
