With 27 degrees at 6:30 at the landing and a stiff 25 mph steady blow going, gusts higher yet, things were challenging this morning.
We did find crappies, just not the numbers we saw Weds. The water dumped 5 degrees in most areas, some were down as much as 8 degrees. The fish had pulled away from shore pretty much and shifted to nearby 5-7 foot water and hung out at about 3 foot of depth. They still hit real nice but the fish were obviously scattered and we caught only two hen fish today. The males were obvious with their spraying but some were as silver yet as the hens. Many were dark but not black. With the wonderful forecast [even snow on Mother's Day morning now] I don't think people need flock to the lake to get in on the frenzy fishing. The wind and cold air will sink the temp readings even more this weekend and it'll take a while to get them jacked back up to where the fish will be popping again.
Typical Minnesota weather, but I'll take this over high, dirty water for the time frame.
