Dipping head and thread for saltwatet jigs

Watched a video where they used cs coating lure and jig finish clear as a last finish for the jig head and thread as a last step after eyes are glued on. Was wondering about other dipping products. Was wondering about exterior polyutethane as a substitute. Work in a paint store and can get that at a pretty good price. Any thoughts appreciated...walt
