Hey Gents, I don't get on here much anymore, but just wanted to post about my success using the Flutter Jigs in the salt. I have gotten more into surf casting for False Albacore (albies) here on the east coast, and I can say without hesitation that the flutter jigs are every bit as effective as any other lure on the market. No need to pay big money for albie lures like Deadly Dick or Epoxy jigs, the flutter jig has been as good, or better, than anything out there. I make mine with tin, a tip I got here, and I mostly use the 2oz cavity which is about 1 1/4oz when poured with tin. Add some eyes, and some colored reflective stickers, or even just naked, they flat out work. Stripers and bluefish destroy them as well.

No idea about the price of tin, my dad has a load of old tin tubing from his plumbing days. I can tell you for sure that tin will give any lure better action than lead. Plus rub some sand on tin and it will shine again, not so much with lead.

Tin makes a huge difference in any of the spoon molds, definitely the Flutter Jig.  That flutter jig in saltwater is crazy effective anywhere I have used it. 

I started using Tin on my Hammered Jig mold and Slab Spoon mold 25 years ago and I was buying it for $3.00 a pound in the form of scrap tubing.  Now its between $18 and $20 a pound, but if you work out the cost compared to say, a Kastmaster, its still a small fraction of the cost.

I have found these jigs to take my holographic foil quite well.
Not the tape but the foil made for greeting cards and such.
Really makes a nice looking jig that I usually add a bit of airbrush paint to.
Ad far as tin goes a cheap(er) source is scrap pewter.
Pewter is often 96%-98% tin. Scrap pewter can often be found at thrift stores, garage sales and sometimes deals come up on eBay.
