Halloween
« on: 10/31/19 16:33 UTC »
On this day the Bat jig underwent a ghoulish transition towards being an ice jig. The collar and wire got lopped off and the hook eye is now out the top of the head. What a major operation for a day like Halloween.

On the left can be seen some with #8 Lil, Nasty hooks. On the right, #10 Lil Nasty hooks. Remember, the bat jig was designed to use the #6 Wacky hook which would eclipse either of these. Now imagine a wax wiggler of your pet color dangling off either of these size reduced Bat heads and you can almost feel the hits even out of the water. These will be hitting to docks on the next trip down and I know of a couple bait shops up near the cabin that will do flip-flops for these. Now I just have to fire up the air brush.

Nice idea. I really didn't care for the bat jig as much as I thought I would. I may have to rework mine like this also.

I haven't ever been a fan of the wide gap hook in the bat jig nor the stub collar. The wire keeper I could live with but done as shown I think they'll make a super ice jig. The head is compact and that makes it a likely good fit in an area that the marmooska and diamond jigs have dominated in.

A size 6, 90 degree hook, fits right in the recess I made for the smaller hooks too if a slightly larger hook is needed or desired.
