New WV State Record Musky

A lucky angler caught this beast just a county south of me recently. Luckily the DNR Officer showed up to certify it and he was able to release this beauty. The previous length record was set here just the year before.

I hope to one day break over the 40” mark on one of these fresh water sharks. For now I’m still stuck in the mid to upper 30” range.

Well that's 30" over my personal best.   I have never caught a musky. Never tried. Maybe some day.

A fish like that doesn't come along often. Wow.

I caught a lot of muskies in my early times (70's) but the biggest thing I ever saw was only 48". Now days, I see a lot of reports in the mid 50"s and up!

Those big Muskies are ugly fish. A guy in Minnesota a couple years back broke the old state record with one that was 57.75" long and weighed 55 pound 14.8 ounces. Ugly critter. I think my biggest muskie was maybe 30". Still, congrats to the guy.
