2" Ripper Body size?
« on: 04/08/23 08:12 UTC »
Considering this mold, but I know the bodies are a little fatter.  Any idea how wide and deep the body is on the 2"?  Most of this style bait I have are the slender body style.  Might be nice to have a little bigger profile as long as it's not too chunky.  Mostly for crappie - and our average size is smaller 8"-10" fish.

Thanks!

I'll get a picture for you shortly using the 2" ripper and a 1.5" Thump-It.

Here’s a 2” Keiteck Swing Impact, a 2” Thump It, a 2” Ripper and a 2-1/4” Fry bait.

The Thump It is at the top. I see plenty of the 8”-10” crappies on the Fry bait and they have no issues with getting the bait in their mouths with a #4 hook. Personally I haven’t given the 2” Ripper much time on the water but plan to this spring. When I do fish it I’ll be using a #2 hook with it.

Perfect - thank you!  Great reference baits.  The 2" Ripper doesn't look too fat bodied, but I see #2 minimum on it too.

A #4 would work ok I guess but a #2 would put the hook further back. I'm going to check what I have for long shanked #2s and compare them with a standard to see how far back that would put the business end.

I really like the 2" Ripper.  I have caught big bluegills, Perch, largemouth, and smallmouth on it.  If I could figure out crappies in my area, I'm sure they would eat it too.

Thanks for the photos Tom!  It gave me the info needed, and I ordered two of the 2" molds today.  I think they will even be great finesse walleye baits for some of our smaller inland eye's!  Can't wait to try them!
