Title: Here's a new jig style
Post by: ctom on 04/13/22 06:55 UTC
Good friend and excellent angler, Corey Bechtold, has been thinking of this concept for several years and finally his new style of jig hook/head has come to fruition.

Note the line tie eye on these heads. By changing the location of your knot you can change how the jig acts on the retrieve. We all have plastics that may behave better on a vertical presentation than on a horizontal one and this new jig allows one to switch presentations in a blink without having to change the jigs. These are slick! I'll be trying these in a couple weeks when I switch from a larger profile plastic to a smaller diameter one.

Corey has been spending several years getting this hook developed and made as well as the head design to hold the hook. From beginning to end, this jig is all Corey. Congrats Bud!

Cool, But I never understood why somebody would'nt have a barbed collar or wire keeper to hold plastic etc...

I like the versatility concept, but it seems like the line would tend to slide down to the nose with every fish (or maybe even every hookset) and would have to be continually adjusted (farther back if that's where a fella wanted it).

I have a couple of old Hilts molds, mostly Shad darts, that were machined for placing the hook eye either towards the front, or more center balanced and will pour them both ways.

I could see this idea working, but agree with efishnc that the connection would likely move a lot and have to be retied.

Still, folks thinking about and solving problems is a lot of what tackle making is about, so I hope the maker does well with them.  ;D

I like them wish could get a mold of them tho someday.  I use a regular ball collar no wire keeper or barb and just the soft plastic bait and it works for me but did recently buy the one with the wire keeper.

I didn't have any hand in this jig design and I agree with 21xdc that a keeper would improve the head. I know Corey had custom molds made and of course that hook is a custom number too. Corey is an astute panfish angler and has had this vision for several years. My hat is off to him for chasing this dream and finally seeing it take hold.

Right yeah it would be nice with wire keeper but yeah he did a great job that's for sure.
