Crappie spinner.

Just got a crappie spinner mold off of eBay. What are you guys using for skirts on it?

Nice find Agronomist_at_ia. Crappie spinners are the best pond bait I have ever fished in Iowa ponds. Have caught almost everything that swims up there.  The crappie fluke makes an excellent tail for that rig. Twister tails are also very good.

I use regular skirt materials, or tie them with hair & feathers. I prefer the fine cut skirt material but can't always get it in colors I want.

I also generally upgrade the hooks too.

For the most part I use buck tail because I can blend colors with it . There is also a buzz bait mold for crappie. Both are effective on all fish.

I modified my 1/8 on this mold to take a buzz bait form and have caught bass and even a few nice crappie with them. I like sharp hooks and use the Gamakatsu B10S Stinger hooks in #4 for the 1/16 and #1 and 2 for the 1/8. By the time you add the form and propeller or blades the 1/8 weighs close to 1/4 oz. so they cast well and the buzzer is easy to keep on top.

Suggestions:
Use a #3 Colorado blade
Many soft plastic shapes do well as well as hair (deer) or feather.
