Poison tail heads
« on: 02/24/24 09:05 UTC »
I decided to add the Poison Tail Jig to my stable of bass heads. What a nice casting, simple head design. The mold casts like a breeze and very little clean-up is called for after the sprues are snapped. Air brush time now!

I have both molds, and that's one of my favorites! I even bought extra molds and pour spinnerbaits with them. Great design & very versatile.

Hair swim jigs & a spinnerbait with that head.

I'm thinking the 3/8 will do a nice chatterbait.

I make a lot of 3/8 for jigs. It's a good jig for going through the weeds. I find if I heat up the mold and get it hot on a hot plate first I very rarely get an incomplete pour.

Here are a few painted up and ready for skirting. I love the way these heads take to airbrushing.

Top left are blue/black. Top right are solid white. Bottom left are fire tiger. Bottom right are chartreuse over white.

Here are a couple each of the 3/8 and 1/2 sizes. WTermlon re flake powder coat does the heads along with some eyes from Bogg’s Baits from maybe twenty years ago. Bogg’s Baits went away long ago. Green Pumpkin Candy silicone dresses the jigs up.

Good looking jigs Tom!

I've just poured a bunch of the heavy weight sizes on Saturday, 1/2, 3/4 & 1 oz, all using 4/0 & 6/0 Gamakatsu round bend jig hooks.

I haven't painted them yet. I pan to do some chartreuse, pearl, and a bright red firecraw type of pattern.  Maybe some black too!  ;D
