Trokar Style Arky Jig Question.
« on: 02/14/24 18:54 UTC »
Is there any chance the Trokar Arky jig mold may ever be produced where it would take a cross eye type heavy hook? Doesn't need to be the Trokar brand hooks either.

Frankly, I pour most of the molds that take Trokar hooks with other hook brands anyway.

I have a Do It Arky mold that was produced where it will take both types of jig hooks. I don't know if that was a common Do It offered mold or what, as I have not seen others like it. I think I bought it used from an Ebay seller.

That's one of my favorite molds too, but I like the shape of the Trokar style Arky head better.

Seems like it could be something with minimal design change using the existing mold.

Not sure I have seen that mold you have either. Would you care to post a picture of it?

I agree with Jim in the fact that the trokar arky design is superior to the original and it is my absolute #1 flippin jig.  I prefer the standard hook, so to me this this mold needs no modification... plus it takes other brands of standard hooks, which makes it makes it more economical when I have to give a few jigs away to the neighborhood pike.

Frankly, I see little difference in the hook eyes, but since I'm selling jigs, and folks have their preferences, I try to make them happy.  I've had folks argue that they get better hook ups with the cross eye hooks, or they have other reasons they want them. Some have even said they see a leverage advantage, but there's no physical way that can be true, if they actually had any understanding of how levers work!  ::)

I like that TK Arky style with a 4/0 Owner Deep Throat hook, but doesn't seem to be a very popular hook with other folks.  ???
