still blowing bubbles here.....
« on: 07/08/24 09:30 UTC »
Many areas here in Mn are still having water issues, though not quite as bad as a couple weeks ago.  Locally we've seen more rain on saturated soils and the river and creek behind us do the yo-yo thing, up/down/up/down. Same with the lake downstream 12 miles. The Mississippi River here has begun to drop....slooowly. I'd still be blowing bubbles if I stood where I normally shore fish. Much of the big river has been closed to recreational and commercial use and what hasn't closed has mandatory no-wake rules in place but there's no enforcement to speak of. The big drink has a ton of debris, both floating and submerged, going downstream so travel of any sort comes with some danger, especially if one does not know how to read the water.

Lake to the west of home are deep into their summer funk and skunk so there's no fishing in that direction for 60-80 miles. A hundred miles north the lakes ae doing okay I guess but that's too far for a couple hours of fish. Next weekend holds some promise.... we'll see what the weather says.

I haven't been fishing, due to the heat here. It's been very hot & dry, and could use some of that water here.

I saw flash flood warnings come across the TV last night for north of here, but we didn't get a drop of rain here. I was hoping that we would, my garden can use it.

Tom, stay safe!

Send a little water this way!  We are forecasted to be in the mid to upper 90’s for the next two weeks. Add on about 1,000% humidity and it’s like trying to operate in hot soup outside. I got to fish on Sunday from 5:30am to noon. Started off in upper 60’s and once back in the truck it showed 97°. Needless to say I was baked. I was grateful to have had on fishing pants, a hooded shirt, and a damp chilly towel on my neck. Our local lakes are down several feet and the streams are at a slow trickle. Presently it’s 9:00pm est and 85° with 55% humidity.

Just read this news article. This is around 3 hrs east of me.

Heat rain and humidity down here . The Mobile Delta is usually muddy anyway but fishing has been tough.

Since I last reported on how dry it was here, we have had 3 pretty decent rain sessions (one of them dropped nearly 2 inches of the wet stuff) so starting to look pretty decent here.
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

I don't want to hear about humidity. Yesterday we has an afternoon high temp of 79 degrees. Livable. My shop at that time was about 65 degrees. Our relative humidity, thanks to a very high dew point, was riding right about 97%. I sweat like a butcher while using an airbrush in the shop!

I've said some prayers for some rain, and we got some here today. Thank You Lord!

It wet my garden pretty good, but won't last long. Maybe we'll get more over the next weeks.

I've been watering it as best I can, but the well has it's limits. I have got the first cucumbers for this year, so not all bad.

I also got a email from the SC DNR, and every county here in SC is now considered in a drought situation, and 15 are considered extreme, which includes the county I live in.

No matter how bad things seem to be, there's always someone dealing with worse things.
