Thanks DENNY, I will. It's partially because I'm just over that 50 year mark as to why I'm not mending like the younger set does. Am picking up quite a bit on here already, and am hoping it shortens the learning curve a bit when the hands on time comes. . Well to be honest, I really enjoyed the time I served. 2 tours of Germany, a visit to Washington state, A tour of Greece (northern part above Thessaloniki), A time in Texas ( FT. HOOD ), A tour of Korea, Spent some time in the Army's navy at FT EUSTIS, Virginia. All of which was funded by Uncle Sam. When we went into Kuwait for Desert Shield, my unit was transitioning from the 113 armored personnel carriers to the Bradley Fighting Vehicles, so we were not deployed there. Then when Mr. Clinton got elected and had the big draw down of forces, I was one of the ones who was told my services wasn't needed anymore, here's something for your time. Now that I was awarded disability some 20 years later for service connected problems, they are taking all the funds they gave me for my time served back. Unfortunately, I get nothing till it's all paid off....But fortunately, The VA has taken care of the medical part. Now if this cancer will stay away, 2nd bout (colon, then cancerous tumor on kidney ), and I can get this healing process over, I can get back too fishing. But Everyone, If I had to due it all over again....I would gladly do in a heart beat, and due it PROUDLY. Thank you too all of you who thank those who serve in all branches of service, Past, and Present. ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL, AND SOME ARE STILL GIVING!!!!! Proudly served from 6/22/77 till 4/12/92...

Again, thanks for your service.  Where were you in Germany.  I spent a couple years in Nurnberg in the late 60's.

I've been married to an oncology nurse for 42 years.  Neither colon, nor renal cancer is good.  Keep up the good spirits and do what you're told.  A good positive mental attitude is important.  I'll even say some prayers for you.

Yep, I know of a bunch of guys that did the same. Some stayed there in country when they got out and unfortunately I've lost contact with them. Almost did the same, marrying one that is. Just couldn't stay there the rest of my life though, as she wanted. Came back here and wound up divorced 3 times. Hopefully this Cajun woman I've got now is the last. The fraze, " It's cheaper to keep them" is no joke.... But sanity is more important to me than that. Just my .02.

At any given time, day or night, we have between 40 - 60 forum members on line.  During that same time we have between 200 - 400 hundred "guests" visiting our forum.  I'd like to offer an invitation to all of our guests to join and become a member of the forum. 
 
Membership has many benefits:
 
1.  You will have the ability to communicate directly with other forum members about those things in which we share a passion.  Instead of being on the outside looking in, you become part of a group that will soon become your friends.  You will have the ability to share your thoughts or ask your specific questions.
 
2.  The forum is made up of over 700 members from all over the fishing and bait making world.  We have everyone covered from the weekend angler sitting on the bank to the BASS Elite pro, to the outdoor writers and bloggers, to the guy who can't spell gud, from the salt water guys to the high mountain trout fly anglers to the valley lake boat people.  Regardless of what we fish for, we all have the passion to catch a fish on something we made. 
 
3.  Our video library is extensive and covers everything from safety, to making spinnerbaits, to pouring hot lead and plastics, to how to catch stripers from a kayak.  Although the forum is owned by the Do-It Corporation, it contains product reviews...what works and what doesn't...even if it slams Do-It.  We are patriotic, we mourn together for our losses and we lift up those in need.  Like any other family we bicker on occasion, but we make up quickly and are usually the better for it. 
 
4.  For you younger guys, forum membership is essential because it allows you to pick the brains of those who have been there.  For us older guys we have the pleasure of sharing a lifetime of knowledge with those just starting out.  It just makes you feel good about yourself.
 
5.  Every now and then Do-It offers forum members discounts and other incentives on products.
 
I could go on about the benefits, but won't.  You already get the picture.  The only thing missing from the forum is you.  It's easy to register, just a couple non-invasive questions and you're in.  I look forward to meeting you.

I am a new member of this site as of just a few days ago.  It is very encouraging to be a part of a group of people that welcome total strangers as if they were family.  The fishing sport is made up of a whole world of people from all different backgrounds rich, poor, young, old, rookies or seasoned pros.  The incredible talent that is displayed on this website is second to none.  The fact that there is no "selfish secret keepers" on these forums is also very inviting to a new member.  I have been browsing every free minute I have and I am honestly overwhelmed with the talent of so many people and the helpful tips and ideas that I have found here in my recent searches.  I don't know any members by "name" yet but I feel very confident that I will become friends with many.  Its very cool to have a place to chat with hopelessly addicted anglers and bait makers.  I am new to building baits as well and I hope to post some pics of some stuff I have built recently and welcome any feedback (good or bad)!!  Thanks to all of you who make this website what it is and I look forward to seeing a long cold winter full of pics and forums to help us all make the sport we love better.  Happy Building

Welcome aboard LipR.  It's good having you here.  There is one bit of advice that most of us have learned over time.  I'm offering it to you as a welcome gift.  Get a sturdy pair of scissors and cut out the bottom ½ inch of your wallet.  That allows whatever you put in it to immediately fall out into the coffers of Do-It.  You'll find that you now have more time to make all those baits that will save you money..
