Hey Everyone!
« on: 06/07/25 11:26 UTC »
Hey folks! I hope you all are doing well these days!

I haven't been on here much lately, had to deal with some health concerns, and had eye surgery to remove cataracts. Generally simple, and not much issues, but I still need glasses, and am now waiting on them.

I can't drive, so have been attempting to do things I can do.

I just got back to pouring some jigs the other day, shad darts, and hadn't been doing any tackle making now for about 2 months.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Jim! That health stuff seems to become a burden as one gets older. I just say the eye doctor on Friday and was told my right eye has changed some in the last year so new glasses again for me too. I don't need them to drive but I do to ead. And I was told I have cataracts forming but a long ways from needing surgery.... which is fine with me.

My big thing is skin cancer. I've had 5 removed thus far, one being a stage two melanoma.

Wishing you well Jim! Gotta keep on keepin on ya know!

Hi BigJim,
This must be the time for health issues, as I've been through many myself. Praying that your eyes make a full recovery, and the glasses give you perfect vision to make the great lures that you have always posted. Good to hear from you again.

Thanks guys! Yep, as we get older, health problems sure do come up. Mine has mostly been my eyes, and following up on my A-fib with my heart. For now, that seems to be under control and my blood pressure is good.

I just saw my primary care on Monday, for routine check-up, and they check my blood work too. I also had the do an EKG, as I had to reschedule my next appointment with the cardiologists and, I just wanted to see if the A-fib had come back. It appears it's still doing OK.

I also had some steroid shots in my right knee. I thought it was getting bad, and was in pain, but the shot got me fixed up for now.  It's a temporary fix, but I'm Ok with that. I really don't want to have surgery on my knees anytime soon.

Tom, I knew I had the cataracts, and had them for some years. The eye doctors were able to correct my vision with my glasses, but it was getting to the point, that wasn't working well. So, I decided to see the surgeon and it's now doing well. The lenses that they put in, corrected my vision some, but not completely. I'm now waiting for my new glasses to come in, and should be somewhat back to normal. I've been wearing glasses since the 3rd grade, so that's normal to me. I can now see colors and light is brighter. The cataracts, turn everything a dull yellowish, and because they grow rather slow, you just don't realize how much it affects your vision. I'm glad I had it done and this doctor has been great!

My father went through skin cancer issues, and had several removed from his face, and arms. My late wife, melanoma was one of the cancers she had, and it was in a mole on her back. My one son has dealt with it too. He goes back for another PT scan on the 11th and the LORD willing, he'll be clear. That's one of my next things I need to do, is go back to the dermatologist and get checked. I haven't been back since before my wife passed and that's now been 2 1/2 years. I don't have anything bothering me, but don't want to have it either.

It doesn't seem to end with seeing doctors as we age, but I guess that's better than the mortician.

Thanks Lines, I appreciate that!  ;D

I have been taking care of my vegetable garden, so not totally wasting my time.  Our diet is important as we get older too! :D

Jim glad to hear you're doing well now. I've noticed myself that since switching to a new job after 29 years & now having to use my eyes a lot more that i'm going to have to visit the eye doctor myself because i can tell the eyes have gotten bad. Getting older sucks for sure. lol
