Weedless Wally

Please consider reproducing the old Weedless Wally.
I’m sure you lost all the original (it’s your number one excuse/reason not to do it but you have everything you need to bring it back. It’s a great jig head that way to hard to find not to mention to expensive to get for the average guy.

Thank you

Interesting. Have you got a picture of the jighead you can post?

This mold has people paying crazy money for it. I just saw one go for $340 on ebay. Funny thing is it's bass guys that go crazy for it. I believe fat guy fishing is making one similar to it. This is what they look like.

I don't have the mold, but do have one of the other Walleye jig molds and the head design is a good one. I use it a lot for hair jigs and marabou jigs for bass.

If they would bring it back, two versions would be great, one for a heavy wire hook & one for light wire, and both needs to be upgraded. I would love to see a heavy wire hook version with a flat eye hook, and a better collar that has a wire trailer keeper too. The ball collar is fine, but leaves much to be desired for adding plastics and most folks I know who fish for bass add a trailer to their jigs. It's OK for tying hair on it.

Otherwise, it's not that difficult to add a weed guard pin slot in the regular Walleye jig molds.

I too would like to have one of the old molds, but it's not worth it to me for the prices that folks want for them.

I owned one of these new... Poured a dozen heads and hated it. Sold it for $30 shipped. LOL

The weedguard was too far back making the bite on the jig too tight. Also the bait would roll over when resting on the bottom as it had a thinner base than top.

I don't miss this one at all... But I miss the extra $300 LOL.

If one guy says it's better than everybody wants one. When I use to fish Federation I would draw guys that would spend half their time changing baits. It use to drive me nuts. I use to tell them to worry more on the presentation of the bait than the bait itself and you'll catch more fish. In this case tie an arky on and go fishing.

That’s the point of this part of the forum right, to REQUEST molds that are not made. I use other jigs cause I have to, I’ve used the jigs before and I like them. Sometimes one size doesn’t fit all.

My point is this. I’m requesting it to be made again. I’m positive it will be a good seller. Lots of anglers love that jig head. So again I’m requesting it to be made and I did it where you can make such a request

This is a want more than a neeed, if they do make it I’ll be first in line to buy one or two.

I'm guessing that they quit making it for a reason....  I think there is room for some new designs though.

I agree. But guys paying $340 for a mold that's just a little different is crazy. If someone tells them it will catch more fish than they have to have it. If you could see all the molds I have then you would see that I get caught up in that too.

The $340 price tag is what got me to ask, that’s ridiculous!

I have over 50 molds myself, some hard to find. I’m on the look for two other molds.
Just saw a company make what looks like a Weedless Wally. Guess they saw the stupid price of that mold.
Any who, it’s getting made one way or the other.

If do-it doesn’t reply or show interest. The easiest, fastest, and most economical way to get one is to contact bait molds/the Ukrainian. Dude is impressive. Give him the specs….in about a month he’ll have one made and ship it to you. Usually just comes in a block mold that splits in half. No handles like do it molds would have. But they work and have a lot of detail since it’s an aluminum block vs sand cast.

I saw that Fat Guys Fishing is now making a mold similar enough to the Weedless Wally, but I haven't looked into them. There's enough interest in the head style, but not sure it would be enough for Do It to reproduce the mold, or new versions.

I bought a couple of single cavity molds last year off Ebay, based on the Lee/Lyman type of molds and they pour a similar head. I didn't know it was similar when I bought the molds, as the guy who sold them just called them a tapered head and of course photos on Ebay don't always show details well. The collars are made for tying or a band type of collar, but not really for plastics. I've added a wire keeper, but so far have not really tested them a lot. Here where I am, most jig folks are power anglers who use jigs with heavy wire hooks, but I could see this type of jig having use when finesse jigs are needed. It would have been a great little jig for some of the small streams that I used to fish in MD for LM & SM Bass.
