That was shot with a twin injector (offered by another manufacturer) that shoots two colors of plastic at the same time.

heh - pace myself - you should meet simwife who really likes all the pretty colors - its why I put off starting down the plastic side for so long.
I am pacing myself - but I'm trying to learn as much as possible as I get started - my first attempt came out reasonably well (no burns, molds filled completely, really happy with a couple of the colors I did) - the ideas are there - now need to get the skills with it.
Do you plan to offer this "twin injector" anytime in the future?

I'd shoot a full bait using one of the color you want for the belly, un-mold it and slice it in half right thru the middle making sure that the portion at the gate is trimmed back so it won't impede plastic flow and then stick the bottom half back in the mold. Close, clamp, and re-shoot using the second color and injecting super slow. I'd use plastic heated to about 355-360 for the second color. Instant two color ddgill.

Rigth - and I had thought about that - but was pretty sure that would give a more 'solid' laminate line, no matter how close the two main colors were - maybe I'm overthinking it.

You could actually do a three color doing it this way. The initial cut you'd want somewhat less than 1/2 of the bait on the belly side. Then shoot a clear or thin smoke. De-mold and re-trim the smoke as thick a line as you want, then put it back in the mold and shoot the back color. The clear or thin smoke will give you just a hair of nuetral color between the two desired colors. That thin clear line will pull color into it from the basic colors and sort of wash them together. Lots of putz work but I'd bet the end result would be an eye candy item.

When I pour frog bellies, especially in cold weather, I want them to bond well. I'll put the mold on a griddle at about 200-250 degrees to keep the bottom portion warm. Of course you could always dip in clear afterwards and not worry about it splitting.

I did as ctom suggested tonite - wife thinks I'm a genius! replaced the tails from one color to another and did a mid body split.
When I get my new supply of plastic in - this is gonna be good -

I rig in on a slider jig. Or Triig. And shaky head. But I throw everything on a shaky head.

Shakey head is the way to go no matter what. I only carry 3 rods at any givin time. 2 are set up for shakey head.

YOu can also put aluminum foil between the 2 halves and shoot it.

The way the mold is set up, you can't use the aluminum foil technique on the gill. You end up with each side a different color instead of it having the colors split like a natural fish. The two colors on each side does look pretty cool though.
