Going to hit the lake Sunday….
« on: 03/01/24 15:41 UTC »
…. And thought I’d cook something up using a couple new to me color shifters. Of course with bright sun and the ever infamous camera filter they aren’t quite as pretty in the picture as they are laying in the palm of a hand. BUT, they’ll certainly fish.

Very nice.  Almost be a shame to lose one.
I find it incredible that I have to explain to a grown American citizen that taking a knee during the National Anthem is disrespectful.

It gripes me that a guy can make a dynamite looking couple baits and then the camera's filtering takes away what was strived for. There are actually two different color shifters, one's on the backs f the left hand bunch and the other on the backs of the right hand troupe. Holding them in your hand they are something else.

As for the fishing, these have a lot of orange in the belly sections and sort of resemble young sunfish or perhaps a spawning perch, both crappie food in this lake. The spot being targeted is the first spot that crappies show up in at the spring melt. Last year a similar colored bait in the 2-1/4" Fry bait like these tore into the crappie population big time. Hoping for the same tomorrow.

Those look awesome.

I thought so but the fish appeared to be less impressed on Sunday.

Honestly the wind was howling at up to 45 mph, which made for some serious distance casts. lol While the weather had been very mild ahead of the fishing the water temp was still only at 37 degrees in spite of the fact that no ice was anywhere in the area. Chronologically we are about 3 weeks early and I believe that this is why we saw no fish.

BUT.... it sure was nice out there looking at waves rather than dirty spring ice.
