I have no idea why, but I never got the 2.25" Fry mold. I have every other fry mold and actually love the tail size of the 2 1/2" and the body size of the 1.75" and the 2.25" has both. Anyway I ordered the mold and have been playing with it today. Like all of the fry series, this mold plays real nice. We're pretty damp here today and no sun so I just used plastics in cups as re-melts for my playtime. Most all of it, save for the chartreuse and black, is color shift clear.
I did some 2 1/2" baits earlier this week with purple fusion and figured I'd start the 2 .25" with it just for comparison in the two body sizes. Of course the high humidity fogged the clear plastic with the fusion in it so getting a half decent picture was a flopola. I tried the same 2.25" baits a bit different using the kiwi color shift that goes from green to gold to red only using a poured black belly instead of a black core. These turned out pretty nice. They're the top three in the picture. The right and left baits show the green and gold nicely while the one in the center gives a slight peek of the red at the very top of that bait.
There's a 2 1/2" bait smack in the center of all of them for a visual size comparison. The 2 1/2" model has to be fished on at least a #4 hook. This 2.25" incher can go on a jig with a #6 hook handily. I'm going to like this 2.25" puppy.

Sometime early next week a buddy and I are going to go on an open water hunt. I'm thinking that my lake north of town has water open on the shore I like to fish from the dock. There's lots of open water on the lake already and yesterday they had to fish three people out after going thru bad ice along with their machine. They lucked out and the machine was hung up on the edge of the hole and hadn't gone to the bottom....22 feet there. And current. Anyway, these are traveling with us to snoop out any crappies we might come across.
