Hybrid Jigs, Finished Jig Heads.
« on: 08/25/22 22:08 UTC »
I didn't have a lot of choices in eyes for these jigs, but did finish a few of the heads only. I didn't add any skirts.

greenpumpkin & orange,  and greenpumpkin with blue glitter

Very nice bigjim. I like the silver on pearl the best. The lavender second. I like them all.

Thank you! The silver over pearl will make a good shad imitation I think.  The lavender is some powder I had got from Ebay, that I thought was a darker purple, so decided to give it a try.  I got it primarily for Crappie jigs.  I painted a few other jigs with it, but blended in some black sparkle powder and made it darker, but those were not the hybrid jigs.  That jig was the first one I tried with that powder so it's straight from the package.

I like greenpumpkin anyway, it's a good color here and I've played with adding different glitters to it, and sometimes blending it with other powders, like the silver. That gives it a silverish tone, but still greenpumpkin. For these I used a basic greenpumpkin color and had only added blue glitter.   A lot of folks like red glitter in GP or watermelon, but I believe that the blue glitter shows up better in the waters here.

I've been buying glitters and adding them to powders myself. The blue sparkle is one I had mixed, it has some fine lavender micro glitter and a blue glitter mixed into it.  They look great in sunlight, but difficult to get a photo to show the full affect.

Powder By The Pound sells a nice glitter sampler, for around $20. They select the colors, but it's been some useful colors for me and that's a decent price for the amount they ship.

Playing with the colors & glitters is almost as interesting as pouring the new molds!  I'll experiment more with them of course! ;D

BTW, you can see how I trimmed down the barbs. These work great for me, and hold the plastics very well, but don't tear them up as much as a bigger barb.  I use the Poisontail mold a lot to make swimjigs, and I think this new mold is also going to get a lot of use too.  :D
