Through wire football Jig
« on: 01/04/13 21:35 UTC »
There are several through wire looped style jig heads on the market.
Bareknuckle even created one from a Do-It Erie mold.  --

I hope Bareknuckle does not mind my attaching his Gallery picture.
Some are with split rings; some without.  Many are of a football head design.
Something of this type would be nice.  I know the Ear Ball lure is in the family but requires major dremel work to get the hook on the eyelet. The eyelet is turned 90 degrees off for a split ring to worm hook connection.  A football or Erie style with a solid through-wire ( not two eyelets ) and a split ring attachment method would be my choice.   I think the split ring allows better hook / bait movement.

Trust me pjmcla we thought long and hard about mimicking the Biffle Hard Head.  I don't have a simple answer as to why we didn't or haven't done it but I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that we already had the Ear Ball molds and I'm pretty sure they did a little research into the sales history of the Biffle Hard Head at larger retailers (Bass Pro, Cabelas etc.)

Here again, based on the production process of a Do-It Mold, it's hard to do every great idea that comes around the bend.  Trust me I was pulling hard for something like this from the start.  I hope it remains a popular technique for years to come 'cause it flat out works.  We will see.

Until then, I'm afraid we'll have to modify existing designs or have a blank machined to do what we want it to do.  I appreciate the input.
