Title: weather diversity...
Post by: ctom on 01/12/12 19:49 UTC
So....do you southern boys like a little diversity in the weather. Ma and I did our walk on Tuesday in t-shirts with a sunny sky and 57 degrees. Not bad for a January 10th. Today we have topped out at about 14 degrees and we have had a sustained blow between 30 and 20 mph along with snow. This stinks. Even my arm hair hurts tonight.

If I could send you a nice hot cup of fresh brewed southern Oregon coffee I would-
I am originally from Illinois, also lived in Minnesota, Colorado, I understand your pain!

The most drastic temperature change I can remember here in north Alabama was in the mid 1980's.  On Christmas Eve it was 72 degrees, people out shopping in shorts and flip flops.  The day after Christmas it got down to 6 degrees and the wind was 15 -20 mph.

I took the boat out today and did some bass fishing for the first time in over 6 weeks.  It was about 65 degrees with sunny skies and a little chop on the water.  Clear water with a surface temp of 51 degrees. Welcome to California.  I figured the fish would be found in 35 +/- feet over rocky points so that's what I fished...nada.  OK, it's time to test the new hardware...Alabama Rig with 3 of my newly poured wutz its.  Got it all set up and reached for the wutz its.  My reach wasn't quite long enough because I left them at home.  OK, now I'm entering panic mode
because TPO (The Patient One) is back at the condo waiting for my long awaited report on the success of Caney Creek molds.  Oh me, oh my, it's time to go and I've nothing to show.  One last chance...I dropped a wacky rigged 6" skinny carrot (watermelon/red) w/ a 3/16 ounce weight into 85' of water under a bridge and waited, and waited, and waited for that thing to hit bottom.  I did a couple beseeches and whatayaknow....the prettiest 2 lb. spot I've ever seen.

There's nothing like catching a fish on something you poured from a bottle.

Our driveway will drift in pretty good when we get wind like yesterday along with the snow. It doesn't take much snow to make a mountain in the drive. I got up at 5:30 this morning to get an early start on blowing things out and of course the big blower would not start. So I start the small one ands as soon as I hit the snow with it the impeller cable breaks. After two hours I finished hand shoveling it. I thought I'd check the big rig again and it started right up. lol I got the new cable ordered a minute ago, so now its nap time.

Watch that cold weather "Exercise" -- We don't want to call it heart attack.
