Title: Does any member make alabama rigs?
Post by: ghostbaits on 01/13/12 19:16 UTC
I am looking to buy some to try out and take pics. Rather support a member if possible.

A watch out ----
The "True" Alabama Rig has a head made of plastic.  The "base weight" of the rig is in the 3/8 th's - 1/2 oz. range. -- Some of the knock offs have lead heads and thus do not "run" the same way as the Trademarked Alabama Rig.  Not necessarily a bad thing, just different.  If you are trying fish the shallow water down where you live I would sure try to find a plastic or minimalist head.

Good point to bring up Paul. I mostly want mine for pics and to run through 6-10ft water.

I bet an epoxy head would be good.

I make both a 5 wire and a 3 wire (so it is legal in Tennessee). I don't use any weight in the head by crimping the wires together. I know a lot of people were complaining about the Alabama Rig pulling apart after a few catches. I honestly don't think mine will.

I would be glad to post pics if you would like.
