Soft Plastic Bait Making => Soft Plastic and Plastic Baits - How To??? => Topic started by: semi22lr on 07/02/17 19:58 UTC

Used the E-core method to make these "banded" baits.
Step 1 - Use E-core method to make first color.
Step 2 - Determine segment lengths and positions, cut, and put back in mold.
Step 3 - Inject anchor color.
Top clear purple bait with black anchor color shows what's going on. Denting of the anchor color has been an issue I'm trying to figure out. Seems to occur less if anchor color is at the "head" and "tail" of bait.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/7b1f21c28a5c50d8c45df41630827d13.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/f70b1d96f5b48a50651f1be9af9fec8e.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170703/706534758f805fec2d1b8b754260237e.jpg)

More Ecore magic. The rods really open up a ton of doors for making unique baits. Nice work Semi.

Pretty cool

Another very cool E-Core application. Way to think semi22lr.

W-T-G!!!
That seems like such a logical next step for the E-core bag of tricks (given the shoot-thru to the tail), but the banding you did never once crossed my mind.
(Although, I have a similar look that I will unveil when my next order gets here.)
As far as your denting, try using a bigger diameter core and/or preheating the mold (with color bands inside)... basically you are having a "mini-sprue" solidify inside the bait which prevents the drawing in more plastic from the main sprue.

You would think the e-core with this technique could make some impressive yellow perch imitation stick baits...maybe shoot 2 color green and white or brownish and white and then make the vertical dark stripes with this method? A little orange for the fins?

First try with e-core.

That didn't work...picture is in the gallery...at least I'm partially successful.

Very nice job. That color looks good on a sinko!

Thanks Muskygary. I've got a tournament on Saturday and I'm hoping something a little different works to bring in some good ones on a heavy fished lake. The techniques that people think of on this site are great.

First try with e-core.

That's a beaut!

Thanks!!!

I like your banded color combo and suggestion on doing a perch using this method. That said, a senko like this is next on my list....(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170706/d85a449fdef1c291f59682e1a05f034e.jpg)

Awesome...looking forward to seeing that bait.
I may take my spike-it marker to mine and add a little orange.
