Title: Twin injector
Post by: kynbeck@yahoo.com on 12/11/18 12:20 UTC
Hey guys I need help with the twin injector, I'm trying to shoot the ES 3.5in Ripper, 4in paddle tail and the 2in and 2.25in paddle tail with two colors if I orient the block across the mold I get a two sided colored bait if I turn it with the seam of the mold and shoot the darker color incases the lighter color instead of making a bait with a darker back and lighter belly, could this be a issue with the heat of the two plastics or do I need to do something with the mold like oil it before shooting or it being a sand cast mold will lightly sanding the cavities or gates help with better flow, has anyone else had this problem and has anyone successfully shot these molds with the twin injector to get a darker back and lighter belly? please help any feed and information will be welcomed.

Unless they are single cavity or individual injection ports, swim bait molds don't lend themselves to dual injection methods. In order for it to work you would have to rotate the bait cavity 90 degrees one way or the other but this can't be done with a 3 axis CNC machine because of the angle of the swim foot.

Thanks LennynSquiggy I was kind of thinking that there was to many cavities on these molds probably need to be a single cavity I'll try shooting a single cavity craw and see if it works on it

You can turn your multi cavity molds into a single cavity for the purpose of shooting laminates but leaving in the runner. Just cut it at or below the bottom port of the top bait.  this will allow the the 2 colors to flow the way you want, but unfortunately you can only do 1 at a time. Pretty much the same concept of using the duel injector on the single cavity cnc ripper molds.  I shoot my rippers with a twin injector all the time.  You just have to get the top color (backbone) a little hotter than the belly color so it shoots in a little faster around that 90 degree bend. takes some practice but it works.

I got mine a day early. I have to wait until tomorrow to play with it though, no fuel for the heater right now.
