Title: Molds you'd like to see in 2020
Post by: Muskygary on 01/31/19 13:06 UTC
To cold to fish or make baits; so I thought I'd start a list of molds for everyone to add to for the coming year. I'd like to see a 4 inch ES Ripper. I'd also like to see a 2 inch multi cavity ES Ripper.

In addition to your want of a ES2" Ripper, I'd up the ante to a cnc, 10 cavity 2.25" Ripper with much finer, deeper ribbing.

I'd like to see these in 2019 but I'll settle for 2020...LOL!!! I'd like to see a Free Style Jig mold with lighter weights like 1/16oz, 3/32oz, and 1/8oz. I would really like to see a weedless walleye jig mold as well, 1/8oz, 1/4oz, 3/8oz, and 1/2oz and I'd love to see it made like the weedless banana head in that it can handle both 60 degree and 90 degree heavy wire hooks. And last but not least, I'd like to see a weedless football jig mold that uses a 90 degree hook in 1/8oz, 3/16oz, 1/4oz, 5/16oz, 3/8oz, and 1/2oz with a ring and barb collar.

id love to see a multi cavity, 2.5" and 3" ripper with top inject, cnc or es does not matter. a 2.5" single cavity or es ripper would be great too. just wish they were easier to laminate good!

a lighter freestyle jig would be awesome too, 2 cavities each 1/16, 3/32 and 1/8, or 1 each of 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4. a production 1/8 ballhead with a wire keeper, or a combo 1/8 and 3/16 ballhead with a wire keeper would be awesome too. production for specific sizes of the midwest finesse (or combo of sizes, ie 1/16 and 3/32, or 3/32 and 1/8)

A large THICK tailed grub.

For years I've been a fan of Kalin's Mogambo grub on my swim jigs, consistently back-seating my buddy as he fished Lucky Strike's super soft grubs on his swim jigs in the front. Since becoming a fan of Do-it's injection molding wares, the best compromise I've found is to splice the tail (mold) from the Stump Thumper to the back of the ES grub; this gives me color combinations I want with notably better vibration in the tail... but I would still like to see an even thicker tail (and increasing overall production would be a plus as well).

The shad bait lure with an eye in the back SBL-3-MB is exellent. The one without I find utterly useless other than for own moding.

A version with a pectorial eye instead of the one in the nose would make for a lure that doubles as great vibrating lure and a tailspinner. I had myself a cavity moded that way and a 5m lot of custom wire forms made. Cost me an arm and a leg, but excellent result. Also, an intermediate size around 2oz would be nice. Far more nice than the 3&4 oz ones.

A spinnerbait mold in 1/8 oz that will accept a #1 or #1/0 staight hook instead of the spinnerbait wire. In production format, 3 or 4 cavities.

I'd like to SE a 2.5in plastic catfish dip worm. I'd like to see the worm polka dotted with circle indents to hold the dip bait.

I'd like to see a small ice fished lead mold for a mooska style ice jig.

maybe it wouldn’t work but I would like to see some stand alone multiple cavity ES laminant molds for existing CNC and ES molds. Hinged or not.  Cheaper/easier to produce than CNC I would guess and we could paint them if a shiny finish is desired. It might be interesting to see a CNC laminated to the rough sand cast finish in some baits. It would have to be better than how I’m doing it now.

I would like to see me quick swap sinker molds.

A bass casting mold only with the stem for a quick swap, and a bottom bouncer mold with the bottom bouncer having a stem for a quick swap.

would like to see a 1/32 1/16 ounce tube jig that would handle a steelhead hook. I know I could modify the one I have then I still end up buying another mold to make regular tube jigs again. so just make one that will handle a heavy hook so I can make looper bugs that hold up to Northshore steelhead.
