Title: In I go.....
Post by: ctom on 06/17/19 19:51 UTC
Tomorrow I check into Mayo's Cardiac Rhythm Clinic for three to four days while I start a new medication to help settle this afib business down. Since the medicine works differently for every person and can get a guy in some deep doo initially I'll be wired to a remote monitor and plugged into an IV so changes they do not want can be addressed instantly should things go south, but I'm hopeful that things go more on a positive side.

Lately the last three afib episodes have been less that nice and my regular cardiologist said I have passed the threshold from stage one afib well into stage two and that a more aggressive medication is needed now. So.....tomorrow is the start of a new time in my life. The cardiologist from Mayo I met with today gave me the run down on what to expect, or more to the point what can happen, during this loading phase and sounded optimistic.

I'm going to be pretty much free to do whatever I want within the confines of this department and will have the phone so I can stay in touch with what's happening here and a couple other sites I enjoy. Hoping to be home Thursday night but Friday will work too if a bit more time is needed to bring things together that will work to calm this old ticker down a bit.

Did ya'll know that afib is one of the biggest cardiac epidemics right now. They have no idea why but this stuff is plaguing people of every age group. I've been dinking with it for almost twelve years now, but just recently has it ramped up a bit. Its crazy how this stuff has just hopped up under the medical field's spotlight.

Best wishes ctom. Hope things go smooth. Don’t reckon they’ll let you do a few mini tackle crafting seminars while you’re there to pass the time?

Be waiting to see what you come up with a few days of down time to think of the next masterpiece.

Hope things go smooth for you with the new meds.

Thanks everyone....I needed those prayers after reading the list of contradictions, including death. Hence the in-hospital loading period. I'm happy that is over.

I honestly cannot say I feel any different but the doc says we have to let this stuff do its thing for four or five months, then re-evaluate things ago.

Again guys, thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Had a good night and nothing in the line of contradictions has shown up so I'm hopeful. Have to see how long I go without afib. My cardiologist says twice in a year is "maybe" acceptable, not the two or three times a month or even one event every 6-8 weeks, so it shouldn't take a very long time to determine if the new med is doing what its supposed to do.
