This is my favorite time of the year to chase smallmouth. Had the lake to myself and despite the cold front the fish were willing to bite.

Hard to see but the hot bait was the ripper in cc green on a 1/4 oz darter head. They were not coming unhooked today, when they got it they choked it!

Nice fish D, but it looks like summer there. I got for small sunfish, a 15 pound or so Buffalo fish and had ice in the guides this morning. 23 degrees. And wind.

I got out just before the nasty weather got to my area. We are low 40's and rain for the near future with colder air coming. Both the air and water temps were about 50 deg with loads of sun when I took these pics. It was the kind of day that makes up for all the days I couldn't get out.

I agree! When the smallies are relentless towards swimbaits, that bite is tough to beat. Special time of the year.

Yes sir. Love it when they choke it.

All you need is a little sun and it's game on.

Nice when things work that way. A awesome time of year

I really enjoy the pictures, DF, I am unable to get out and fish, again this year. I am going through a stem cell, transplant. I'm spending approximately 45 days, at Vanderbilt University,Hospital, taking strong doses of Chemo, and several other procedures. trying to buy more time,
I love to fish for those ol brown fish, as well as about any species. I really enjoy the pictures. I hope you keep them coming.
Maybe next year, I will be able to get out , and try my luck.
Thanks
