How old is this mold? When did they quit making it? How long did they make them?

That mold was only made for a few years and the last ones were produced in 1983. Nice find! :o

I just bought it. I never saw this one before and I have been looking for rare models for near 30 years. I'm considering modifying it to make bladed jigs with a bluegill/baitfish shape head.... Or I may turn it into a blade bait mold for the large blanks.
I'll never use it for it's intended purpose.

It’s a tail spin mold like the eire dearie . They do make a blade bait with that style head.

They also have 1/4 - 3/8
If you plan to mod the mold remember to cut only half the thickness of the blade on each side or the blade won’t track right.

Blades are a key producer of eye’s all year long. I never leave home without my blade box.

::) You must really have a short memory and don't remember me or your own posts.. LOL...
I have probably made more custom blade baits than anyone on the planet.... Look again>>> https://custombaits.com/index.php?topic=11470.0
I know what the mold was made for and know how to machine and mod molds... Some have told me I should work for Do It Mold Company. ;D

BTW.... This mold has many sizes... 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1oz :P

Nice find!! I see them occasionally on the bay
WW - I had never heard of it or the Erie Dearie style molds being referred to as a tail spin molds

21xdc my reply was not to offend anyone’s mold mod capability.
My previous post was (sweet selection)

I'm not mad bro! I found humor in you telling me how to mod a mold and what the mold was made for. ... ;)

Blade baits don't swim as good as my last heads... The 3/4 and 1oz swim better than the lighter ones... So I made this mold a bluegill head bladed jig mold and it works fantastic in 3/8 and 1/2oz... I'd post pics , But photobucket is not letting me load the pics.

Question for Do It Corp...
Was this mold offered in smaller sizes? If so, What sizes and model number of the mold?
-
How much are these molds worth now a days, might have one to get rid of.

I responded to your private message on TU... ;)

I’d love to see what you do with it for bladed jigs. Should be pretty cool.

For Bladed Jigs: On my molds with the vertical eye orientation I cut the hook flush to the body at the bottom and connect the blade. I think close the eye of the hook back up with pliers. I have never had a hook open back up or a blade come out. If the super tiny slit on the hook bothers you you can coat a little Devcon 2 Ton epoxy on it (I stopped doing it because I have not had any issues since the blade runs at the top of the hook and it takes a LOT of pressure to open the hook eye up!).

You must be referring to "Bladed Jigs" Not Blade Baits...
