Man that mold looks really tempting.  I just can't get enough Crappie molds it kind of reminds me of the Hellgramite.

That bait resembles a bream bug mold that I have.  Pluck off them legs and you have a very passable waxworm bait.  2 molds in 1.

Very true, olsarge.

The perch and crappies I was catching this weekend were coughing up bugs all over the ice.  Here is what they looked like.  Does anyone here know what this little critter is exactly? Just by happen chance my Bubba Scuds I was using were strikingly similar in resemblance.

My fishing buddy who has his Master's degree in Aquatic Entomology says that it is probably an Alderfly larva.
(or a Dobsonfly). If you have any "less digested" photos that would help!

It does look like the new bait!

My mold came early this afternoon. After getting it to room temperature I re-melted a cup of old plastic just to see how well it injects. Its cute, The injector rod doesn't even move to fill the mold. lol Its pretty tiny even in the un-hinged 3" square mold I can see this bait earning its room and board easily. I did just the one shot today. I'll warm the room up tomorrow and "play" with the mold. The venting sure does compliment all those little legs and appendages. Having these little baits in my hand I can see how Kyle put the hurt on fish last weekend.

I used a straight Essential plastic to make these. Tomorrow I'll try essential with a squirt or two of softener to see how the two baits compare. The legs already have a ton of wiggle to them, just going to see if a softer plastic makes an difference.

This mold alone is making me want to get into making softbaits! I’ve barely gotten into making lead jigs as of now...

I like the contrast in color between the body and the legs. I can see there are a lot of fun things that can be made out of this one mold.

I'm going to have to get that mold. I can see; later on we may need a larger size (31/2) to use on a ned rig!

I did three more this morning all using color shifting pigments but haven't done the pictures yet. I have so many projects going on right now that trying to squeak things in all in a day get crazy. I'll get the pictures this afternoon then check to make sure they show what I want and maybe get them up tomorrow morning.
