So I'm helping my son do some live edge epoxy coated projects.
Needed to color the epoxy black.
I tried a small batch with DoIt black and it seems to work ok but don't want to ruin a 2 gallon mix.
Anyone on here ever play with epoxy coatings?

Interesting. I just watched a video where the guys from Mudhole use a wet pigment to color epoxy for a rod or wrap coating. They use the same pigment for marbling with epoxy but it’s a rod building technique. They sell the stuff. I have used,as have many members here, glitter to mix in a topcoat to put on our creations. All of it easily transferred and used elsewhere. Here’s a video using the mudhole pigment mixed in epoxy.

I've worked with some 2-part epoxies.
Of course you can use glitters, and there are liquid colorants made specifically for epoxy, but I use dry pigment powders.
I measure the non-hardening resin first, then mix the pigment powder into that non-hardening resin. Then measure the hardening resin and stir it into the mix and then use the resin.
I HAVE, however, used X2 colorant in those same resins with 100% success.
Many of my pigment powders come from here...
