I would sure like to see a jig mold with the ability to connect the worm screw like that!

I have made a few with the worm screw tied onto the top of the hook shank. It works ok, but doesn't have the flexibility of a ring-type connection point.

Very, very intersting. As to say: goodbye weed guards, welcome springs.
I was thinking that the ring at the base of lead, over the hook's shank, must not be thick, must not be strong, it must be only a connexion ring for the spring, so it's possible for instance to create a little ring with a pc. of wire Ø0,4 mm over the corner of hook, place it inside your usual, not weed guard, jig mold and pour the lead. Of course you will obtain a little bit of shaves, but perharps this trick's worth it.
Just an idea.

Is this something like what you'd like Andy?

Sort of self-explanatory.

I know what I'll be doing on the next rainy day!
Thanks!

Good video and Tom mod looks like a perfect fix.

I have done this with sinker inserts. I'm not bending wire when I can buy these so cheap. :D Call me lazy, Or smart. ;D

Which size would fit into the standard brush guard hole? Do you epoxy them into the hole?

Since you have fished this, do you find this jig more weedless with this rigging than say a standard weedguard football head with the wire insert? I use that jig a lot, catch a lot of bass on it.

does the angle of the trailer matter.

I like using an EWG hook when I make these... I fill the weed guard area with rtv red silicone and use the size 0 stainless sinker insert...
I also prefer a centering pin screw lok. https://barlowstackle.com/Owner-TwistLOCK-Centering-Pin-Springs-P3269/

Or you can just pour the small model 1/8 inch diameter centering pin into the jig mold...

Size 0 sinker insert in the weed guard cavity... You can use plumbers putty for a temporary pour session.

Interesting !

What happened to Jeff? He had some great posts! I don't think I've seen anything from him lately.
Jeff: Where are you?
