I'm new here, so thanks for all the good info! I am starting to tie crappie jigs. I prefer a 1/16 oz egg head, no collar. My neighbor on Okeechobee has a mold that was made in a factory he worked in, when he should have been working! Is there a do-it or other mold that is close? I like #4 sickle hooks. I could probably get by with a round head, what mold do I need. I get confused looking at all of them. Thanks!

If your doing jig for yourself #1 egg head you can use JB Weld and fill the collar in .
#2 fits in tubes and gives the jig a different fall to the tube also great marabo jig.
#3 all around one that gets the job done tied with hair or feather it has a erratic fall that drives fish crazy.
#4 any of the mold that have wire keeper are awesome for holding soft plastics plus any mold that has a wire can be poured without the wire.

There are places that sell DO-IT MOLDS to incase one don’t have what you want in stock. This is just one of many.

Easy to bend the hook to fit, Or modify the mold a little to take your hooks.

The 3486 teardrop head is my go to in the 1/16, simple to cast. Very smooth running jig and you can cast it without the wire insert although if you're tying material on other than plastic the wire will help add a small amount of extra gripping area for thread, material and glue.
The Freestyle 1/16 head is a nice one also. The round head w/keeper wire [#4 mentioned] is a great all purpose head and is what I do many of my 1/16 and 1/32 heads in for smaller profile plastics.
The Diner Shiner [#3520] has some great detail in it if you're wanting a head that's more than just a smooth head. And don't dismiss the #3500 Minnow Head. Both of these take the wire insert but like the others I've mentioned can be cast without it if you prefer and both of these fish great under a small float.
The Bathead jig that's suggested still has a short collar without a barb that can make a hair or feather dressing appear bulky behind the head. The Diner Shiner is very close in shape and much easier to make without having to modifying the heads for 90 degree heads.

Thanks for all of the help. I use them to single pole jig, pretty much exclusively. I've jigged with my buddies one-off egg shaped jig heads forever, I'm just use to them. I just got a fluid bed, and am now powder painting and tying. I poured up a bunch with his mold last winter, just wanting one of my own to play with.

The Do-it freestyle jig is what I would recommend. The big reason is that it balances perfectly keeping your presentation horizontal at all times.
