I seen on another forum today that Ron Lindner of fishing facts/In Fisherman fame passed away. Such an important member of the fishing community will be sorely missed. I can't even compute how much the Lindners meant to me as a fisherman. RIP Mr Lindner you have touched more lives than you could ever know.

I saw that the other day. I met he and Al with a film crew at the Red Wing dam here in Minnesota long before the nuke reactor was started up. Nice guys. They were way ahead of their time.

When I met them they were doing a walleye segment in February. Boats had to be pushed across ice to open water in many areas. The one resort was not open until March so things were not easy-peasie. They fished nothing but simple plastics that bass anglers used....worms were the mainstay but Al liked the salamander baits. Nobody and I do mean nobody even considered plastic a walleye bait back then. Bucktails were a hot bait along with the old "doll fly" jigs cast on zinc plated long shanked hooks. Outside of live bait, and yes the buckies and feather jigs were always minnow tipped, plastic and blades were yet to find the niche by several years but it was the Lindner bros that ushered in a whole new way of fishing.
On the second day of their filming I sat at the landing and talked for an hour with Ron and Al. When they spoke they were darned nears hypnotic they were so into what they were discussing.

My mother's side is from Chi-town, so that accent really stands out to me.
