I powder paint all my jigs and chatterbaits. In order to keep the hook eyes, etc. free of paint, I use a small piece of heat shrink. Takes a little extra time, but the hook eye will be completely clean.

Several members here use the shrink tube for keeping the eyes open but its always a great tip for those just starting out on powder painting. Myself I paint a ton of smaller heads and use a forceps to hold the eyes to keep paint out. Works super good.

Those are awesome Coosa Redye. Coosa, as in river?

Thank you.
And, yes, as in Coosa River. Love to chase me some Coosa Spots.

We live a bit west of Gadsden. I fish tourneys on the Coosa often. Weiss is my favorite Coosa lake.

Cool. I don't fish tournaments, but maybe we'll run into each other sometime. Moved here about 6 months back.

What color did you use for the jigs in this post?

Pro-tec Green Pumpkin

That's what I was thinking. Thanks!

My parents live on Lay Lake and it is where I spend a good chunk of my free time. If you ever find yourself up that way give me a shout.

Hey bassinfool, where is Lay Lake located in relation to Weiss Lake?
Just did a search, it's below Logan Martin?

It is a little southwest from Weiss in central Alabama. Yes, below Logan Martin. My parents live around mid-lake on the main river outside of Peckerwood Creek, but I grew up on Waxahatchee Creek which is on the deeper southern end of the lake. Lay gets a fair amount of fishing pressure but it is still a good fishing lake, can just get tough at times. Big spotted bass and healthy largemouth population as well.
