Title: Victory hooks
Post by: Muskygary on 02/01/21 17:34 UTC
Just got my new Do-it catalog and I see a new brand of hooks with a very good price on them. Anyone know anything about them?

I want to try a 100 pack, I wonder if someone is making matzuo hooks under a different name. I hope so!

When I was down at HQ last Friday, I saw a pallet labeled "Victory"... since that is the town I live in, I asked Kyle if they were shipping that pallet to my house.  Of course he said 'no', but he then explained that it is a new brand of hooks belonging solely to Do-it.  I don't know if some larger manufacturer already in the hook business is making them for Do-it, or if Do-it found/developed a unique manufacturer to make them for their company. Regardless, I'm expecting good things with these (given the company's track record for quality) and I'm really happy to see a slightly more opened point on their octopus hook.

We are now a proud distributor for their full line-up and are excited to have another really great quality hook option for tackle-crafting at an affordable price.  It's my understanding that Victory's launch into the hook market was led by folks from Mustad and Matzuo and hook innovation that stemmed around angler input.  Victory is a new brand, but was built and founded by a lifetime of hook design and hook manufacturing expertise. I would expect we’ll see several manufacturers and distributors using and distributing these hooks in the coming year. We were lucky enough to offer them first and we are really excited to have these in our hands and be able to offer them to our customers in 2021.

Do the victory 90 degree hooks match the 570 or 575 EC hooks or is it a 630 or Mustad hook.  Will they fir the freestyle, midwest, etc.

There are hook style options for both of them, CC1.

How sharp are they compared to other brands? Consistantly sharp?

We do not have the full inventory in house yet, nor have I spent a whole season fishing them but I'm happy to send out samples if there are hooks any of you would like to look at or try. Send me a DM.

Terry Hansen that worked for Matzuo for many years and Harry Simmons, that did design work for Mustad and made hooks for over 20 years were instrumental in the Victory brand launch and we are confident and excited about their new line-up.

Kyle, I got the samples you sent today! Thank you for sending them and a new catalog! Very much appreciate that!

First impression is great, so looking forward to pouring with them and testing them out. It's gotten somewhat warm here today too, had some showers much like a spring day and supposed to be warmer tomorrow, up to about 70!  :D

How do I get some samples of these?

I am needing to place a large order for more jig hooks, and want to compare them to the EC500LN I’m currently using.

I was all set or order more Eagle Claws until I saw these!

As far as I can tell it looks like the Victory are a little pricier, but if they are worth the price increase, I have no problem running them!

Glad to hear the samples are arriving, the arrival dates from different carriers has been very unpredictable lately. From a timing standpoint I guess it was a better scenario now rather than right before Christmas but to anyone that has not received a requested sample please PM me and let me know and I can check a tracking number and see what the status is.

I apologize if there was anyone that asked for a sample or received anything other than what they requested (21xdc). We are still expecting a full stocking order to arrive anytime but we do have a pretty good selection of most of the Victory product in house now.

Raynestorm,  Send me a PM and I'll get some samples coming your way so you can see them yourself.

I'm not mad... It's just that the one bait/mold that I wanted to try them on only takes the hokks I asked for... LOL...

I'm still thankful...  8)

But if you do get those other hooks, I'd like to just try a few... I was never expecting anything more.

I don't often comment about very many things . However if Do-It is embarking on it's own line of hooks I believe it will be a very welcome and profitable addition to the arsenal . Just my gut feeling.

Finally received my 4/0 and 5/0 60 degree flat eye hooks after they spent a few weeks in USPS purgatory and immediately poured up a few 1/2oz arky heads to use as chatterbaits.  The hooks look great, seem to be well made with a nice finish and temper to them.  Can't wait to get out there and see how they hold up fishing.
