Many, many years ago I discovered a purple glitter/ chartreuse tailed 1.5" tube that was phenomenal for crappie catching and I could buy in bulk in bags of 1000 through a buddy's bait shop. Every couple years I'd order a bag. I still have about a half a bag of the tubes that I keep re-oiled and will use a few each year. The tube shown here looks like a decent home spun but really a couple dipping rods can make a lot of tubes in short order if a guy doesn't mind snipping the tentacles.

Once I discovered the Culprit paddletail as a crappie bait tubes pretty much went right out the window. Do-It's 1.5" Thump-It is about as close as a person can get to the original Culprit unless one decides to buy the smaller paddletail available at BigBiteBaits. I'd probably be buying those paddletails if they had some decent colors. Do-It's Thump-It has a much better tail action though so that's what I make.

Lurecraft has a tube dipper that is suppose to be crappie size Item: 2x143  if anyone is looking for something like that.I don't have one, but will look at one the next time I get up there.

Unless someone wants a very specific few colors that are not available on line or in stores, tube dipping can be dome in crappie sizes, but really they are so cheap to buy its hardly worth the time to make them.

A friend has one of the same molds Mike has and he gave me some baits but I passed because the tentacles were way too thick and lacked action.

Funny how over the year’s some manufactured bait’s have been the ticket. And know we can make your own is so cool.

Nice WW  I've been thinking about getting the Jacob's Crappie tube but it would probably be a hassle cutting all the ends all the time

Was your source Everett's?

Nope. A long defunct one here in town.

20 or so years ago, my buddy turned me on to Everett's for special order plastics with the same 1000 piece (per item) stipulation, and I thought we may have had the same source for our secret weapons back in the day (before we both got hooked on injection molding).

No doubt about it Curt makes an outstanding tube mold.

That's back in the Dean Marshal era and he was a great one to help people out in that fashion.
