Post by: Dave on 04/19/12 12:14 UTC
Alright you guy's, I know this may sound unusual, but does anyone have a recipe for a chocolate color?

White, milk or dark?  ;D

I've never tried, but wouldn't brown work?

Yes and No on the brown, but I believe I am on to something and have been pondering an idea for quite some time. I just need a chocolate recipe to try it on the waters here. Anyone's help with this is greatly appreciated!

I'll take a shot at this.  Try purple and green transparent colors and then opaque it if you need to with a very little white or pearl. Do a small batch...3...4 oz. You should be able to add colors hot too.

I've had a wad of mixed variation, Pumpin Seed colored plastics for awhile...some had very small Black flake, some had Medium and Large Black flake, some had plastic Flash Foil...I chopped all of 'em up like a Salad and nuked 'em.  When I 1st got geared up to do this Plastic Thing, I remelted the entire pile of 'em.  It made a nice, natural, light Brown/Pumpkin color that I call Bull Booger.

Maybe a few months ago I pulled the Ball of Bull Booger out the box.  I wanted a color, something like Coffee...strong Coffee.  I added some CCM Brown and it started looking good but was a little "deeper", a little more transparent than I was looking for.  I added CCM White a few drops at a time to give some Opaqueness...Creamer!...perfect.  I threw in some .062" Black flake for good measure and went to work with my Very Fine CCM Injector.

If I wanted a Chocolate, I'd take this same mix and add Black a little at a time to darken it.  I may fail doing it, but that would be my 1st choice if I had a Sweet Tooth.

...and maybe a drop of Red...maybe a drop of Yellow...

You guys are awesome! I've got it - 3-yellow, 9-red, 1-black, 1-white, 9-purple and 10-green pumpkin, to a half a cup of plastisol.  Now it's time to mix and match, huhaHAHaHAA.  Why does it feel like my hair is standing up?

Have a recipe that came to be my chocolate wine color. It is rather lengthy, but when the baits are poured the bodies are solid brown but any thin attributes in the baits have a red/burgundy tone without being completely opaque.

6oz plastic-
15 Drops - BB- Candy Apple Red
10 Drops - BB- Chartreuse 1
15 Drops - BB- Emerald Green
20 Drops - BB- Chamaleon

Started as something completely different, then was turning out to be a trash batch so I added the Chamaleon just for poops and haha's and it turened out rather decent. Will upload a photo shortly (no my lightbox is not built yet :'( ) but I have replies to send out before hand.

That looks close to the color "Earthworm" from several vendors.  Jason has an earthworm colorant that I feel sure is close to this.
For chocolate I would think a heavier base of dark brown , a little white for opaque if needed, possibly a tad of black and / or a touch orange maybe; for shading.

I was looking at something else on their site this morning;  But I noticed that Lure Craft has a color " Chocolate Brown".  Should at least be a good starting point.

Dreamer that's a nice color, but you mind if I ask what the BB stands for?

Thanks man, BB = Bears Baits. I had purchased the colorants well before I was introduced to CCM.

Alright Gents,  I ended up making a Chocolate color in opaque then added 30 drop of green pumpkin without any flake to a 7 inch ribbon tail. Then filled them full of salt, started injecting and then tried them out today. Unfortunately, I was by myself and I forgot my Gopro camera at home, but anyhow, they worked incredibly! After finding them on the weed beds, I began to jerk them in the boat one after the other. I had people watching me to see what I was doing, then a person asked what color I was throwing and wanted to know where I had got them.   ;D That makes a person feel real good!  :P :P :P

Nothing like catching them on a bait you yourself made.  Good work.
